Accolades

As outlined, we have been picking up quite a few awards lately. In fact, we have received no less than 68 medals since our last newsletter. We keep on striving to make the best and be judged with our peers. In this very confused wine market place we live in, we feel it's the only way to assist you in discerning one maker from the next.

How Sweet It Is: Saddler's Creek Has Received the Top Award for Their Botrytis Supreme At One Of Australia's Most Prestigious Wine Shows. The trophy for best sweet wine at the 2006 Royal Adelaide Wine Show for its Botrytis Semillon. Under the label of Botrytis Supreme, Saddlers Creek outpointed Australia's best dessert wine makers.

New Wines

Have we got some news for you.

The new Equus Collection is in bottle…in fact it is plural. Equus Collection Series 3 2003 Cabernet and Series 4 Shiraz 2004 are about to be released…..we are happy Jan ..you will be too!

We have two new wines just placed into tank after barrel maturation. They are the 2006 Reserve Chardonnay and the 2003 Reserve Merlot. Both these wines are great examples of what the Hunter does best.

2006 was as we all know, very dry and as a result we have a very small volume of what we think will be a very different Chardonnay. This wine is now exclusively available for Club Equus members only.

We are particularly chuffed with our upcoming 2003 Reserve Merlot as it is made entirely of fruit from our Marrowbone Road Vineyard. It is 5 years since we have made a Hunter Merlot and what a wine the last one was. Our 1999 Reserve Merlot picked up numerous medals including Golds at major shows and best in its class three times. This Merlot we think is better...time will tell. All we can say is that it is not often that we see the Hunter produce a good Merlot, but when it does, it does it ‘big time’. This wine is now available for purchase.

Platinum Upgrade

We are delighted to welcome 63 new Platinum Members to the fore this month and those of you who are eligible will receive your upgrade and gift very soon.
